About 300 entries were submitted this year. Judges cut down the competitors to 5 competitors in each of 6 categories, it included design, visual art, best audio and technical excellence.
The Independent Games Festival’s organizers said that they will start accepting submissions for the 2011 contest .In its thirteenth years the IGF is the pre-eminent showcase for the game innovation now ,creativity and art.
Joe Danger, Monaco, Rocketbirds: Revolution!, Trauma and Super Meat Boy are this year’s nominees for the top award ,and the full list of nominees can be found at the IGF’s website.
This year, a new category for Best Mobile Game is added at the Independent Games Festival. It will including both those created for mobile phone platforms and portable console games.
What’s more ,the Nuovo award has a more breathing room: The prize for experimental art games has 8 slots for nominees now.
The Independent Games Festival Awards will be given out next year at the awards ceremony, to be held in San Francisco on March 11, 2010.
